Any reason to head to Bowen Island for the day is a good one, but there is perhaps no better reason than for a hike to Mount Gardner. A trip up to Mount Gardner on Bowen Island gives you a great hike with the bonus of a fun day-trip off the mainland.
Last week I went on an Sea Safari Eco-Tour with Sewell’s Marina out of Horseshoe Bay. The Sea Safari tour is a two-hour boat adventure that takes you all around Howe Sound to view the beautiful coastal scenery and ocean wildlife just off Vancouver’s shores.
Hat tip to Gary Robbins for this one: File this under ‘Amazingly Awesome!’ but ‘Do not try at home!’ Kayaking down a drainage ditch at 50+ km per hour!!!
The Howe Sound Crest Trail (HSCT) is a gorgeous 29 km trail stretching from Cypress Bowl to Porteau Cove. The trail takes you over multiple summits, offering spectacular views of Howe Sound, The Lions and the beautifully turquoise Deeks Lakes, to name a few. The trail is no walk-in-the-park and is typically tackled as an overnight trip. However, it can be completed in one day. I completed the Howe Sound Crest Trail with a friend as a casual trail run in about 9 hours.
