“It’s nice just to be nominated :p”. Outdoor Vancouver came third in Best of 604 voting for the sports site category. It was pretty cool to see my little website in the running, especially since this is the first year for Outdoor Vancouver. And hey, there was even a online write up in the Vancouver Sun. Cool stuff! Congrats to all winners, and a big thanks to Miss604 for organizing the event. I wasn’t able to attend the awards reception, but from what I’ve read everyone had a great time. Also, thanks to the people who voted for and visit this site, its neat watching it starting to grow and attract more visitors.

I don’t usually do a lot of self promotion but a co-worker of mine always says “If you don’t toot your own horn someone else will spit in it” (or something gross like that anyways). Miss604 is hosting a fun ‘people’s choice awards’ for blogs and websites around Vancouver, called Best of 604. OutdoorVancouver has been nominated under the sports category (thanks Michelle ).

As often as I can, I try to highlight and promote local business, organizations, bloggers, and online triumphs. In 2007 I started the Best of 604 wherein I listed some of my favourite sites, parks, and places for family fun around the region.

This year, I wanted to leave the nomination and voting to the public (that way no one can wonder what my mystery formula was for calculating winners).

So if you enjoy this site please go vote under “Best sports website or blog”, and for any other of the local sites you’re a fan of.
