How Not To Handle A Day Of Snowboarding

I made it up to Whistler yesterday for my first snowboarding sesh of the season. First of all, the conditions weren’t great. I know it’s opening week and all but yikes, its was pretty bare up top. There were only a handful of runs open, and while they were good enough to work the summer rust off, you might want to wait for more snow to fall before paying full pop on a day ticket if you don’t have a season pass. I should have brought my camera to post some pics, oops. Anyways, I just thought I’d give everyone a quick and free Public Service Announcement on a few things NOT to do when you head up the hills this winter.
First, don’t forget your jacket at home. Your jacket keeps you warm. Your jacket keeps you dry. Your jacket has a nifty pocket for your iPod. Your jacket is your friend, so don’t leave him or her at home like I did. The best thing to do is lay out everything you need the night before so its ready to go in the morning. Sounds pretty simple right? Apparently not.
Another thing that sounds simple, but perhaps isn’t, is to not lock your keys in your trunk when getting ready to leave the hill. Your car has heat. Your car can drive you home. The locksmith will charge you $67 to unlock your car. Your car is your friend, so don’t place your keys in the trunk and then close it before unlocking all the doors. This was my friend’s mistake for the day.
Beyond all that, we headed over to Whitler Bungee and both did our first jump, which was great. I will post about that experience later this week.
